How to Create Content That Sells (Even If You Only Have 247 Followers and No Idea Where to Start)

Simple strategies to get sales without the viral pressure or “influencer energy”

First of all—can we normalize this?

✨ Not having a “perfect” feed
✨ Not going viral
✨ Not having 10K followers or professional photos
✨ Not having time to post 3x/day with 3 kids hanging off your body

Seriously. You don’t need any of that to create content that actually converts.

You can grow a legit, consistent, profitable business on social media with:

  • A small-but-engaged audience

  • A little bit of strategy

  • A whole lot of authenticity

  • And the confidence to show up as you

I’ve done it. My clients have done it. And you can too..

So, how do you create content that sells?

Even with 247 followers?
Even if your audience is mostly your mom and Karen from HR?

Let’s break it down.

💡 Step 1: Talk to one person—not the whole internet

One of the biggest mistakes I see is trying to talk to everyone and ending up connecting with no one.
Your content should feel like a DM to your best friend, not a press release to a stadium.

👩‍👧‍👦 Ask yourself:

  • What is my ideal buyer struggling with right now?

  • What’s keeping her stuck?

  • What has helped me that she might need to hear today?

Write from there—not from a script.

💬 Example:
Instead of “Are you tired of feeling stuck in your business?”
Try:
“You sat down to work, opened Instagram, and immediately forgot what you were supposed to be doing. I’ve been there.”

💡 Step 2: Use stories > stats

People don’t remember bullet points. They remember how you made them feel.
If you’ve ever struggled to come up with content ideas, the easiest place to start is with your own story.

  • Why did you start your business?

  • What problem were you trying to solve?

  • What made you finally say yes to showing up online?

👀 Your people need to see the behind-the-scenes, the messy middle, and the lightbulb moments.

💡 Step 3: Don’t just educate—relate

Educational content is great, but it’s connection that drives conversions.
Think about what your audience needs to
feel when they read your content.

  • Seen

  • Encouraged

  • Empowered

  • Safe

💡 Teach something helpful, yes—but wrap it in your personality.

💬 Example:
“Here are 3 ways I get off social media in under an hour a day”
→ Give real value
→ But also keep it
you (“…because I’ve got lunchboxes to pack and an afterschool activity to rush too”)

💡 Step 4: Have a clear CTA (even if it’s small)

You’re not being pushy.
You’re being helpful.

End your posts with one simple next step. Something like:

  • “Want the exact prompts I use? Drop PROMPTS and I’ll send them to you.”

  • “This is what I teach in my $17 Masterclass—DM me MASTERCLASS if you want the link.”

  • “Been there too? Tell me below so we can spiral together 😂”

CTAs don’t have to be salesy. They just help your reader know what to do next.

💡 Step 5: Stop ghosting your audience

And by that I mean: be consistent. Even if you’re not in the mood. Even if your hair isn’t done. Even if you think no one’s watching.

Because someone is watching.
Someone is lurking.
Someone is thinking,
“Wow, she’s really showing up. Maybe I can do this too.”

And the truth is?
Most people don’t buy the first time.
They buy after they’ve seen you show up… again and again and again.

✨ That’s how trust is built.
✨ That’s how sales are made.
✨ That’s how your small audience becomes your warmest market.

Here’s the magic formula:

To create content that sells, you need:

  1. A clear message

  2. One person you’re talking to

  3. Real stories from your life

  4. Simple CTAs

  5. Consistency that builds trust

You don’t need:
🚫 A massive following
🚫 A professional camera
🚫 To be in your “influencer era”
🚫 To post every single day

You just need to show up— consistently, with a little strategy, and as YOU!
